Women of the revolution Room

This room is dedicated to all Nicaragua’s revolutionary women: those who worked to overthrow the Somoza dictatorship in the popular insurrection that triumphed in 1979, those who worked to rebuild the country with the Revolution in the 1980s, and those who continue leading their communities into a more equitable future today.

This is a large room comfortable for a couple or family with a queen bed and a comfy bunk bed (2 people). Cost includes breakfast for 2 people. $10 charge for each additional adult, prices for children vary.

 

Pablo Rosales Room

This room is dedicated to Pablo Rosales, who worked alongside Ben Linder on the San Jose de Bocay hydroelectric project. Pablo grew up in the area and was kidnapped by the Contra a year prior to his assassination, but managed to escape and brought his wife and four children into Bocay town where he believed they would be safer. Pablo was ambushed and assassinated by the U.S.-funded Contra along with Ben and another Nicaraguan companero, Sergio Hernandez.

This room is small, but a cozy fit for a single person or a couple.

Padre Miguel d’escoto family room

This room is named for Father Miguel d’Escoto, a Maryknoll priest who dedicated his life to the poor of Nicaragua. His community development organization, FUNDECI, was founded after the earthquake in 1972 and his office used to be in this very room. Padre Miguel invited the JHC-CDCA to Nicaragua to work with the poor in Ciudad Sandino in 1994.

This is a family room. It is equipped with a 4 comfortable bunk beds (8 people) and an en suite bath. Price includes breakfast for 2 people. Cost of $10 per additional adult, prices for children vary.

Rita clark room

This room is dedicated to Rita Clark, who worked at the Nicaraguan Embassy in Washington during the 1980s. While the U.S. waged war on her people, Rita guided and supported the emergence of people-to-people solidarity movement as a path to peace; promoting Sister Cities, humanitarian and political advocacy to stop the war. People looked to Rita for analysis, talking points, interpretation of events and a place to sleep in DC.

Sergio Hernandez Room

This room is dedicated to Sergio Hernandez who worked alongside Ben Linder on the hydroelectric project at San Jose de Bocay. Sergio was a 33 year-old carpenter who first worked with Ben building a weir to study water flow for a possible hydro plant at the El Cedro cooperative. Following repeated Contra attacks on the co-op where all 61 homes were burned and 100 head of cattle slaughtered by the Contra, Sergio and his wife Bertilda moved their seven young children into Bocay town to be safer. Sergio was ambushed and assassinated by the U.S.-funded Contra along with Ben and another Nicaraguan companero, Pablo Rosales.

This room is small, but a cozy fit for a single person or a couple.

For reservations of up to 3 nights, we do not charge prior to arrival and we will cancel your reservation no questions asked. For reservations of 4 or more nights, we require a 30% non-refundable deposit to confirm booking.
